Interview – being successful in this business

A few weeks ago, we shared part 1 of Executive Director Sharon Whiteman’s interview with 2014 Top Executive Director, Anne Everingham and Senior Executive Naomi Enevoldson on the topic of success in a Mannatech business.

This week, it’s the boys turn: Silver Presidential Simeon Cryer and Executive Director Ian Scott.

 Q. How do you overcome the most common objections to joining Mannatech?

I like telling stories. You’ve heard personal stories from Naomi, Anne and Ian. I was talking to one of my guys in Adelaide recently, I was saying ‘just tell stories’. He says to me “What if someone says to me ‘I’m part of the NFL, I have no friends left” or “What if someone says ‘I’ve got no time or got no money’”. That’s ok. You know what, here’s your goal: get some stories, just have fun, tell some stories and partner with your leadership and partner with the person you are working with.

So here’s a story that may work for you. The person you are speaking with says “No I’m not interested. I will never do that kind of thing.” I would say “I get it, I totally get what you’re saying, I was listening in on a call the other day to this lady named Naomi and she is one of the top leaders, top enrollers and she was saying the same thing. She needed a way to get ahead financially. She was looking for a business and she got so disheartened just seeing all the scams out there. They had been in a previous company prior to this and she and her husband said they would never ever do that again. So they agreed to try the products. They got great results and naturally just wanted to share it with people. You might want to do the same thing if you like the products.”


Q. How important is hunger to success?

I was like many of the people you have heard on the call today, I was nervous as all get up because it cost me over $1,000 to get started and I was only earning $300 a week. We just decided to take some serious action.

When we were earning $1,000 per month that radically changed our lives: it enabled me to:

Ÿ  Stop the debt collectors from calling

Ÿ  Buy lunch at work

Ÿ  Get the car washed.

Our lives changed when we were making just $1,000 per month.

I heard a statistic the other day that said 90% of all bankruptcy in Australia would be prevented by earning just an extra $300 per month – so that $1,000 per month is what really started to change our lives. Then we started to do weird things like go on a holiday! Imagine that. We grew through the leadership ranks. Before too long we were on a 6 figure income and we’ve earned millions of dollars from Mannatech. So that’s my story, and I say “Hey, you need to know my story so you can leverage off my story” when someone says to you “I don’t have any money”.

We just did whatever it took. We found a way.

If you’re hungry, you will get serious. That’s how you overcome obstacles like “I don’t have any money” or “I don’t have any time”. I was working 2 jobs!! I know.  I understand no money and no time. You’ve just got to find a way and so I get it. Get over the excuses! I did. If you get over your own excuses here’s what will happen:

  1. You will get your own success;
  2. You will be able to really authentically, with authority, help people get over their excuses.

So when people tell me they don’t have any money, I’ve gotten over that same excuse so I can help them find a way. I can help them get over that.

The same wind of circumstance blows over all of us. It’s what we do to the set of the sail that determines our outcome.

Q. What did it take for you to achieve the award Top National Director?

Mannatech is a fantastic opportunity. For me, it didn’t run as smoothly as I wanted.

At the 2013 Australasian Convention, I was at rock bottom. I was almost ready to quit because I wasn’t achieving as other people around me were achieving.

I thought “What am I doing wrong?”,“What can I do differently?” So I went and basically started picking people’s brains – people who had been successful recently and had become Executive Directors.  I chatted with them and I also chatted to both Presidential Directors Rod Gilchrist and Chris Gregory as my upline and had endless discussion with them about what can I do differently.

I realised that the first thing I needed to change was my own attitude. I needed to stop feeling like I was a victim of my circumstances and all that sort of thing. I just thought I needed to plug into a system and I didn’t even realise that I was working on “Me” part of the Three Point Plan!!!

I started attending everything that I possibly could. Sometimes on weekends I would travel up to 400 kilometres backwards and forwards attending different events here. I would go down to Tweed Heads or up to North Brisbane…backwards and forwards… backwards and forwards.

I set some goals got stuck in to an action plan.

I put my head down and my bum up and had a whole lot of fun!

Q. What does the future of Mannatech hold for you?

In all the years that I’ve been involved with Mannatech, there has never been a better time than NOW:

Ÿ  We have the existing products, the ones that have been around for several years which we all know are absolutely awesome;

Ÿ  We have new products like ŪthTM Skin Rejuvenation Crème. That product grew my business by 50% in one month;

Ÿ  We have the company mission, Mission 5 MillionSM;

Ÿ  We have the Three Point Plan, a revolutionary new system specifically designed to develop leaders in your business in a simple, duplicable way;

Ÿ  We’ve embedded some great habits using our Daily Habits Tracker during the recent 100 Day M5M Challenge.

The combination of all of these things is a recipe for absolute awesome growth and success.

I see Mannatech climbing that Top 100 MLM  from being in the  70’s and getting right up there into the top 10 in the next couple of years.

I think we’re ready for the next prize.

You know all companies go through ups and downs and Mannatech’s had its fair share of both. I think it’s time for a massive up again and I’m really, really excited to be partnered with a company poised for such growth.
